What are Vibroacoustic Singing Bowls and How are they Different from Traditional Himalayan Singing Bowls?
Vibroacoustic Singing Bowls are designed to have a thin walls, a side all that tapers downwards to a flat bottom. This allows us to create an metal singing bowl with a much lower tone than that of a traditional Himalayan singing bowl of the same size. It also has a much stronger vibration, that can be felt throughout the body.
The primary purpose of vibroacoustic bowls is for on the body use, where their soothing vibrations can be directly felt. With a gentle tap, each bowl sends warm, calming waves through the nervous system, like a gentle lullaby. These tones primarily resonate in the low second octave, creating a deeply grounding and relaxing experience.
The secondary use of vibroacoustic singing bowls is for concerts and soundscape settings. Due to their thinner walls, the sound is lighter than that of heavier traditional bowls—but this slim design creates an advantage. You have a lighter weight bowl, allowing you to travel with multiple second-octave bowls in a single bag. This can significantly reduce the weight and number of bags you would carry to events.
